About institution
The Secondary School "Vuk Karadžić" is situated at the heart of the Central Banat, poorly developed border municipality, in a town of Sečanj, which is the administrative and cultural centre of the municipality. Sečanj is a typical lowland settlement, some thirty kilometres to the south-east of the city of Zrenjanin, on the main road to the neighbouring Romania, which is only 20 km away. In its territory there is only one secondary school.
The school was founded in 1964 as the Grammar School.
From 1970, classes have been held in a newly-constructed building, situated in a beautiful environment on the Tamiš riverbank.
The school's area is 2349.68 m2. The school comprises open space on the area 10,000 m2 where sports fields are constructed (tennis courts, basketball and football fields, open gym and children's playground), with the remaining part being turned into a park.
Nowadays, the school has verified decisions to cover programmes in three fields of work: Mechanical engineering and metal processing, Economics, law and administration and Grammar school.
The majority of students come from settlements in the Municipality of Sečanj, with some students coming from municipalities of Plandište and Zrenjanin.
Instruction is delivered in eleven classes in one shift. The number of students has been around two hundred for many years now.
School transportation is organised by the local self-government and is free of charge.
Students attending the grammar school programme learn English and German.
There are 45 school employees, 35 of whom are teaching staff.
