The school was established in 1948 as the School of Agriculture, and operated until 1952, when it was relocated to Šabac, pursuant to a decree by the Serbian Ministry of Education. Due to demands for agricultural workers in the region of Srem, the Municipal Assembly of Ruma, at its session held on 29/01/1965 passed the decision number: 01-2605/1-65, on establishing the School of Agriculture with programmes for Crop Production, Livestock Farming and Orchard-Winegrowing. One year later, the programme for Veterinary Medicine was launched, for the first time in Vojvodina. The programme for Food Production was launched in 1977. Since then, the school has delivered education for qualifications and programmes in the field of agriculture, veterinary medicine and food production. In the Decision of the Provincial Secretariat for Education, Administration, Regulations and National Minorities-National Communities number 128-022-9/2013-01 from 27/02/2013, it was established that the school had met the criteria in terms of space, equipment, teaching aids, number of teachers and expert associates, required for the introduction of another field of work - Chemistry, Non-metals and Graphic Arts. In the Decision of the Provincial Secretariat for Education, Administration, Regulations and National Minorities-National Communities number: 128-022-656/2020-01 from 25/02/2021, the school changed its name to the Secondary Vocational School "Stevan Petrović Brile" and another programme was introduced - for the qualification of Dental Nurse-Technician. Ever since, the school has delivered education in the field of agriculture, food production and processing, health care and social protection.
